Day 19- Colorado: Getting to Colorado Springs & Garden of the Gods

Day 19: Colorado- Getting to Colorado Springs & Garden of the Gods

The latest update from the Happys: 5 AM kickboxing was canceled!!

We got an extra 15 minutes of sleep!! We got our things together and did a little extra scrubbing in the bathrooms, thanks to our Dopeys! For breakfast we had some scrumptious untoasted bagels, some with cream cheese, some with peanut butter and jelly, some without anything…

After napping away the first stints of driving, we were ecstatically looking forward to a Flying J’s pitstop and the fresh Cinnabon inside. Unfortunately there were no freshly made Cinnabons available and we were forced to settle for the pre-made selection of cinnamon rolls. Once the Cinnabon supply was exhausted, our participants bought sodas and energy drinks, what’s new? Both of which were soon regretted as we had a three hour drive ahead of us. We drove for some time on our way to Colorado Springs, playing card games, napping, word searches, and desperately waiting for the nearest bathroom. Liberty Bell even had to pit stop for a quick bathroom break after someone chugged her soda from the Flying J a little too quickly.

For those that less urgently needed to use the bathroom, got to use the ones at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center. Our trip made TWB history by being the first to visit that specific Visitor Center. While there some took many great photos with the park’s rocky ridge line; others flooded the gift shop buying some slightly overpriced popcorn, stickers, fudge, gummy worms, and peach rings. Eli very kindly bought Scotland some dinosaur putty to kill time on the bus with.

As we arrived at Colorado College, Caroline Stacey, Brooklynn, and Reanna all wowed us with their knowledge of Colorado. After these lovely girls finished their presentations, we jumped straight back into perfecting our dances for the competition. We all gathered in our groups to practice with music blasting, and high energy from sitting on the bus all day. All the dances started coming together nicely.

As we perfected our dancing, we were “surprised” that we were having pizza ordered for dinner (Liberty Bell may have had loose lips on that one). We were each allowed two slices of Dominos and a variety of soda, many counting the seconds down till they could get more.

The HAPPPYYYYSSSSS

The Dopeys were the stars of the show as the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader routine, including Scotty being thrown in the air, won them first place in the competition. Even though the Sleepy's were cooking during dance practice time, they still blew our socks off with their ability to create a coordinated routine in such little time. The Sneezy showed off their synchronization by performing various TikTok dances. The Grumpy's did not live up to their name tonight as they were a joyful presence on the dance floor. The Bashfuls not only showed off their dance moves but also their strength as CJ and Asher were carried around the floor. The one and only Happys (us!) brought laughter to the crowd with our griddys and trip outs. Sipper was not the only surprise from the counselor as they surprised us with their amazing routine to “Since You've Been Gone”

Our Happy group worked on the blog for a good portion of our evening free time and

then joined the rest of the group playing basketball, volleyball, and some even did
gymnastics in the hallway. The girls had a luxurious 6 showers to share and were
able to get everyone in by the 10pm lights out.

Thanks for sticking around thus far! We can’t believe it’s only 3 more days till we get back! Excited to see you all but sad to leave our TWB family ❤️
