Day 1- Sendoff and FDR State Park

DAY 1FDR State Park
            Pine Mountain, GA

Hey everyone! Get ready to embark on our adventure out west, starting with the not-so-Bashful, Bashfuls!

Today we gathered at Mallard Creek to say goodbye to our loved ones and get our stuff packed on the vehicles. We had a first day birthday, our very own Bashful Ella, and sang to her at send off.

We then made our first state-border cross and took a Bashful photo at the SC welcome center.

We had sandwiches made by the counselors for lunch, plus chips and cookies.

On the bus, Grant talked to us about budgeting our money throughout the trip and for the cooks. We bonded over playing card games and making friendship bracelets. On the bus we did some ‘speed dating’ which allowed us to socialize with each other and make new connections.

Excited to stretch our legs a little 🥳

We stopped at a gas station called Flying J’s and saw a movie theatre inside

In Caleb and Ashton's van, if someone fell asleep, we took pictures!

We drove through Atlanta traffic and at our first Wally world trip a lot of the girls got cotton candy Alani’s and one guy got the Shaqlicious gummies.

The cooks making a game plan for dinner

Girls shopping for watches

Some of the girls spent time in Walmart finding children’s watches for the trip since they forgot theirs.

We got to our humid campsite at the FDR campground and set up our sleeping stuff and got rained out after we moved all our stuff outside.

Some pre-dinner card games

The Happy boys are our current resident grill masters.

The girls had to try of course.

While the cooks were preparing dinner, everyone else played soccer, socialized, played cards, passed a volleyball, and were able to meet new people after being in the bus and vans all day.

We had burgers with watermelon, chips and cookies for dinner. The Happys (the cooks) held a contest for groups to get a meal first, and we, the Bashfuls, won and got to get dinner first.

After dinner we worked together to play relay races against the other dwarf groups. Some of the games included, rolling a cookie on your head and trying to get it in your mouth, making a chant for your group, passing pool noodles with only our shoes, passing a hula hoop down our whole group, and a cup stack relay.

Hollister Warren, Jana White and RJ Love accompanied Grant as they led us in our sing-along after relays. We sang classics like ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, ‘American Pie’, ‘Lean on Me’, and a TWB staple ‘Today’. We ended the night off on the right foot and are excited for Louisiana tomorrow!

Signing off for now!
